Formula Preparation & Storage

The best way to transition your baby to Nutura Organic is to introduce changes to feeding gradually. All babies react differently due to the sensitivity of their tiny tummy. You may notice stool changes while their digestive system adapts. If your baby’s symptoms persist, seek advice from a healthcare professional.

You may choose to mix the new and old formula to help you baby adjust to the change. Below is a suggested guide on how to transition:

  Current Brand Nutura Organic
Day 1 75% 25%
Day 2 75% 25%
Day 3 50% 50%
Day 4 50% 50%
Day 5 25% 75%
Day 6 25% 75%
Day 7 0% 100%

When preparing Nutura Organic Formula range it is important to follow to directions on the tin carefully. This will ensure your baby’s bottle has been prepared safely with the correct balance of nutrients your baby needs to grow and develop.

Always ensure your hands are washed, the preparation area is clean, and all equipment is sterilised before formula preparation.

Feeds should always be prepared fresh when your baby is ready to drink.

Always follow the instructions on the tin when preparing a bottle. This will ensure your baby is getting the correct amount of formula to meet their nutrition needs.

Babies may drink more or less each day and appetites can vary dependent on growth needs. Follow your baby’s hunger and fullness cues to determine how much to feed. Prepare each bottle fresh when your baby is ready to feed and discard any unfinished bottles.

Generally, a newborn should be offered a bottle every 3-4 hours. At 4 weeks of age your baby may feed up to 8 times a day. As they grow this usually decreases. During growth spurts infant nutrition needs increase so they will need to be fed more often.

You will learn your baby’s hunger signals, which will guide you for when and how much to feed your baby.

If you have any concerns about your baby’s feeding frequency, please consult your healthcare professional.

Always follow the instructions on the tin when preparing a drink.

One serve of Nutura Organic Milk Drink offers up to 50% of the recommended daily intake of many key vitamins and minerals. This is why we recommend only 1-2 serves per day, depending on your child’s individual diet.

If you are concerned about your child’s nutrient intake, please consult your doctor or health care professional.

Always use cooled boiled drinking water.

Nutura formula tins are packed by weight, not volume by our calibrated equipment. Every single tin is checked for weight prior to release. Formula powder can settle over time therefore creating a slightly larger gap from the time of packing.

Store the tin in a cool, dry environment such as a kitchen pantry.

The tin should be used within 4 weeks of opening. You should always follow the label instructions and never use the product past the ‘used by date’ on the base of the tin. Always replace the lid after every use and do not use the tin if the seal is broken.

It is best to prepare each bottle just before feeding.

When necessary, prepared formula should be stored in fridge. We recommend the middle back section of the fridge where it’s coldest.

Unused water or prepared formula should be discarded after 24 hours. Unfinished bottles should be discarded within 1 hour.

We don’t recommend freezing Nutura Organic formula.

Under refrigerated conditions, powder is exposed to condensation causing it to clump. If clumping occurs, powdered formula is difficult to mix and reconstitute correctly.

Formula can be stored at room temperature and can be used up to 4 weeks after opening the foil seal.

The safest option is to boil then cool water before pouring it into a sterilised bottle. Keep the powdered infant formula in a separate sterilised container and mix these when baby is ready for a feed.

If you’re taking pre-prepared formula with you, leave the bottle in the fridge until you’re ready to leave the house. This will help keep the bottle cool and reduce the risk of bacterial growth for as long as possible. Use a cool bag and ice packs to transport the bottle. Ensure the feed is used or placed back into a fridge within 1 hour.

Stand the bottle in warm water for no more than 10 minutes. After this time bacteria may grow and potentially make your baby sick.

Microwaves are not recommended as this can heat the bottle unevenly and may lead to some areas being too hot for your baby to drink.

Discard any re-heated formula that is not consumed within 1 hour.

One level scoop is equal to 4.6g powder.

Yes. The tin, lid and scoop are all recyclable.
